In 2024, Ontario received 21,500 nominations for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which is 5,000 more than in 2023

This increase in nominations was announced following the meeting of the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI) in November of the previous year. At this meeting, immigration ministers from each Canadian province and territory (except Quebec and Nunavut) discussed immigration issues with Federal Minister Mark Miller.
Each province and territory receives an annual allocation of PNP nominations from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This year's increase was made following requests from the provinces for greater control over their provincial nominations.
Additionally, a federal plan was announced to increase the number of permanent residents Canada will welcome through the PNP in 2024 to 110,000, which exceeds those admitted through the federal Express Entry program.
The increase in allocation and the holding of these draws reflect Canada's aim to boost immigrant numbers and the interest of the provinces in attracting professionals with the necessary skills to support their economic and social development.
